PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A domestic violence suspect was taken into custody after deputies located him injured in a creek following a foot chase, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began late in the evening on March 23, 2026, when a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, 38-year-old Reynaldo Ammaud Bryant of Jacksonville, assaulted her while she was giving him a ride.
According to the report, Bryant asked to stay with the victim as they drove toward Jacksonville. When she refused, he allegedly attempted to take control of the vehicle and wrapped his arm around her neck, choking her.
The victim drove to a gas station and went inside to call 911, but Bryant followed her and took her phone. A store clerk contacted authorities, and Bryant fled the scene.
A few hours later, deputies were called to another gas station in Bostwick after the victim’s sister reported Bryant was there. When deputies arrived, Bryant ran into a nearby wooded area.
During the search, deputies discovered a steep drop-off leading to a creek approximately 20 feet below. Bryant was located at the bottom, unable to move after falling.
Fire-rescue crews were called to assist and removed Bryant from the creek before transporting him to a hospital. After being medically cleared, he was taken to the Putnam County Jail.
Bryant is charged with battery by strangulation, obstructing justice (tampering with evidence), and larceny. He is being held without bond.
Authorities said an injunction had been issued prohibiting Bryant from contacting the victim. However, detectives later learned he violated that order on March 27, resulting in an additional charge of violation of conditional release.
