Methamphetamine Investigation at Fanning Springs Motel Leads to Drug Arrests

FANNING SPRINGS, Fla. — A narcotics investigation prompted by citizen complaints about suspected criminal activity at a motel in Fanning Springs resulted in multiple arrests and drug-related charges, according to the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the sheriff’s office launched an extensive investigation into alleged illegal drug distribution occurring at the Cadillac Motel following repeated complaints from residents.

As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested 55-year-old Johnny Lee Coleman of Chiefland.

Coleman was charged with Sale of Methamphetamine Within 1,000 Feet of a Specified Area, Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Sell, Manufacture, or Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana Over 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

During the execution of a search warrant connected to the investigation on May 8, 2026, deputies also arrested 33-year-old Meagan Elizabeth Brant of Fanning Springs.

Authorities charged Brant with Resisting an Officer Without Violence.

Investigators said the operation revealed ongoing illegal narcotics activity occurring near public areas frequently visited by residents and visitors.

Sheriff Bobby Schultz said the sheriff’s office will continue aggressively investigating and prosecuting illegal drug activity in Gilchrist County.

The sheriff’s office also credited local residents who reported suspicious activity and cooperated with investigators during the case.
