According to investigators, Da-Vonne Mitchell was arrested Wednesday, May 20, and charged in connection with the shooting death of 49-year-old Cory Denmark.
Police said the shooting happened on Dec. 10, 2025, in a parking lot on Edgewood Avenue North. District 5 Patrol officers responded after receiving reports of a shooting and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, where Denmark later died from his injuries. The second victim survived.
Jacksonville homicide detectives launched an investigation and identified Mitchell as the suspected gunman after interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video from the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators also arrested 29-year-old Tyquan Thompson and 26-year-old Anthony Brooks Jr. this week. Both men were charged with Accessory to Murder After the Fact in connection with the case.
The sheriff’s office said detectives will continue working to seek justice for Denmark’s family as the three men move through the legal process.
