GILCHRIST COUNTY, Florida – A Gilchrist County man was arrested within hours of a reported business burglary after deputies used surveillance footage and investigative leads to identify and locate the suspect, according to the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded May 25 to a business in the southwest portion of Gilchrist County after employees discovered property valued at approximately $4,500 had been stolen from a restricted employee area during business hours.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and used additional investigative techniques to identify the suspect as 42-year-old Travis Lamons Thompson of Trenton.
Authorities said deputies located Thompson within hours of receiving the report and conducted a traffic stop.
Evidence gathered during the investigation allegedly linked Thompson to the crime, leading to his arrest.
Thompson was charged with burglary and grand theft.
Sheriff Bobby Schultz praised the deputies involved in the case, citing their quick response and investigative efforts.
Officials said the arrest demonstrates the value of proactive patrol work, teamwork, and thorough investigations in protecting local businesses and holding offenders accountable.
