Father and Son Arrested in Jacksonville Road Rage Killing After Nine-Month Investigation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A father and son have been arrested in connection with a road rage shooting that left one man dead and three others wounded on Interstate 10 last year, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred on Sept. 18, 2025, on Interstate 10 East near Interstate 95 North.

District 1 Patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered four people inside an SUV suffering from gunshot wounds.

Three victims survived their injuries, but 26-year-old Toby Robinson died as a result of the shooting. Authorities also revealed that a 3-year-old child was inside the vehicle at the time but was not injured.

Homicide detectives launched an investigation and initially had little information beyond evidence suggesting the shooting stemmed from a road rage encounter involving a black vehicle.

Over the next nine months, detectives utilized a variety of investigative techniques and resources to identify the suspected gunman.

Investigators ultimately identified 43-year-old Leonard Bryant Sr. as the person who allegedly fired the shots.

Detectives also determined that Bryant’s 22-year-old son, Leonard Bryant Jr., assisted after the shooting and allegedly acted as an accessory to the crime while also tampering with evidence.

Bryant Jr. was arrested on Dec. 17, 2025, in connection with the case.

On June 19, 2026, members of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team located Bryant Sr. and took him into custody without incident.

Bryant Sr. has been charged with the murder of Toby Robinson and four counts of attempted murder, one count for each of the other occupants of the SUV.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the evidence that led to the arrests.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office credited homicide detectives for their persistence throughout the lengthy investigation and said they remain committed to securing justice for the victims and their families.

The case remains active as it proceeds through the court system.
