STUART, Fla. – A 31-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after leading law enforcement officers on a vehicle pursuit that began in Stuart and ended in neighboring Martin County, authorities said.
The incident began on the evening of July 28, 2026, when a Stuart police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for an equipment violation after discovering the registered owner’s driver’s license had been revoked.
Instead of pulling over, the driver fled, prompting a brief pursuit through the City of Stuart.
During the chase, the suspect struck another vehicle, causing property damage, before continuing into Martin County while driving recklessly, according to police.
Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol joined the pursuit as it crossed into the county.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle was brought to a stop and the driver surrendered without further incident.
The driver was identified as David Kingsley Jr., 31.
Stuart Police charged Kingsley with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.
Additional charges were filed by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Stuart Police thanked the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol for their assistance in safely bringing the pursuit to an end.
The investigation remains ongoing.
