State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that a Duval County jury has found Issac Partridge guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Shooting or Throwing Deadly Missiles in connection with a 2022 road rage incident on Interstate 95. Partridge faces a sentence of 25 years to life in Florida State Prison, with sentencing to be determined by the Honorable London Kite at a later date.
The incident occurred on August 24, 2022, when Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers responded to a shooting on I-95 and Phillips Highway. According to evidence presented at trial, the altercation began when Partridge sped past the victim, swerved in front of his car, and emitted smoke from his vehicle’s exhaust. When the victim returned to the lead position, Partridge overtook him again and opened fire.
Using an AR-15 style rifle, Partridge fired 13 rounds into the victim’s car, striking him multiple times. The victim, who was southbound on I-95 at the time, lost control of his vehicle, which collided with another car. The victim’s injuries were severe, including the loss of an eye.
Partridge had initially claimed self-defense when he called police after the incident. However, investigators and prosecutors dismantled this defense during the trial. The case was handled by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Donna Thurson and Joel Cooper.
