On January 24, 2025, at 1:07 p.m., Hillsborough County deputies responded to an aggravated battery call at an RV park located at 9102 Williams Road in Tampa. Upon arrival, Logan Williams, 27, attempted to evade arrest by entering a vehicle with his mother, Meriam Williams, 62, and driving away at high speed.
Williams struck a citizen’s vehicle before intentionally ramming a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol car. He fled the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly after.
Video footage was released by HCSO.
Deputy Stevie Hackett, who has served with HCSO for over two years, and an HCSO civilian employee accompanying her, were transported to Tampa General Hospital. Both are in stable condition.
Logan Williams faces multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated Battery – Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon Victim Over 65
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree of a Law Enforcement Officer with a Weapon
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree with a Weapon
- Driving Under the Influence with Property Damage or Personal Injury
- Aggravated Fleeing to Elude
- Resisting Officer Without Violence (x3)
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage
Meriam Williams is charged with Resisting Officer Without Violence.
Sheriff Chad Chronister commended the bravery of Deputy Hackett, stating, “This incident highlights the risks our deputies face every day. A dangerous individual is now off the streets thanks to their quick actions.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and Logan Williams’ booking photo will be provided by the Public Affairs Office when available.
