Fentanyl-Dealing Couple Arrested in Macclenny Raid

A Baker County couple was arrested Monday evening following an investigation into fentanyl distribution at their South Macclenny home.

With the assistance of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) SWAT Team, Sheriff Rhoden and BCSO narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at the residence after receiving numerous community complaints about suspected drug activity. Undercover detectives had previously purchased illegal narcotics from the couple before obtaining the warrant.

During the raid, 35-year-old Jason Burnette and 32-year-old Brenda Perez were taken into custody. Both were charged with the sale and possession of fentanyl. Burnette, a convicted felon, was also charged with possession of ammunition.

Sheriff Rhoden emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activity, stating that every complaint is investigated and followed up on.
