The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested 45-year-old Adam Phillip Neeley in connection with a homicide that occurred in a wooded area behind a business in the 3500 block of Apalachee Parkway.
On April 21st, TPD officers initially responded to reports of gunfire in the area but found no immediate evidence. The following day, April 22nd, officers were called to a business on Park Avenue by a 911 caller reporting a homicide and the potential location of the victim’s body.
Assisted by Air 1, officers located a wooded encampment where they discovered the body of a deceased adult male concealed under a mattress and wrapped in a tarp. Adam Neeley was found nearby and detained.
The investigation revealed that Neeley and the victim had a verbal altercation, which escalated to Neeley shooting the victim multiple times, resulting in his death. Neeley then allegedly attempted to hide the body and pressured others in the area to assist in a cover-up. These individuals refused and contacted law enforcement.
Further investigation determined that Neeley is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. Following consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, Neeley was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility, charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
