CAPE CORAL, FL — A 42-year-old Cape Coral man is facing dozens of felony charges following a statewide crackdown on digital exploitation. Robert Carrion was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on April 8, 2026, and charged with 25 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
The investigation into Carrion began on March 2, when FDLE agents monitored a peer-to-peer file-sharing network. During the operation, investigators identified a specific device that was actively downloading illegal files depicting the sexual abuse of children. Forensic tracing eventually linked that device directly to Carrion.
On March 25, FDLE agents, supported by the Cape Coral Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, executed a search warrant at Carrion’s residence. Authorities seized multiple electronic devices for in-depth digital analysis, which later revealed hundreds of illegal files.
Following the forensic confirmation of the material, agents and local police took Carrion into custody on April 8. He was transported to the Lee County Jail, where he remains as the case proceeds.
