DAVENPORT, Florida – Homicide detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a fatal shooting at an illegal house party in Davenport last month.
According to investigators, 18-year-old Daedean Anthony Moctezuma-Orland was shot and killed April 18 while attending a party at a residence in the 9205 block of Sommerset Hills Drive.
Detectives identified the suspect as 16-year-old Chace Dawayne Mitchell and arrested him in connection with the shooting.
Authorities said Mitchell has been charged with manslaughter, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in public, unlawful possession of a firearm by a person under 18, and unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon.
Mitchell was booked into the juvenile assessment center and is being held without bond, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators said no booking photo was taken because of his juvenile status.
Detectives said the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about the events at the party to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline.
