Suspect Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges After Three Injured in Tallahassee Shooting

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A suspect has been arrested on three counts of attempted murder following a shooting that injured three people early Sunday morning in Tallahassee, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

The shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on June 7 in the parking lot of 2020 South Adams Street, where a large crowd had gathered.

Investigators said a physical disturbance broke out among individuals in the crowd. A short time later, one of the people involved in the altercation retrieved a firearm and opened fire.

According to police, all three victims were shot while attempting to flee the area. Information about the victims’ conditions was not released.

Following what the department described as a quick and thorough investigation, officers identified and arrested the suspect, who now faces three counts of attempted murder.

The arrest comes as Tallahassee police continue investigating a series of recent shootings across the city. Over the past month, authorities reported nine separate shootings that left 13 people injured and resulted in three homicides.

Police said many of the incidents have occurred in or near locations where large crowds had gathered. While investigators believe the shootings are unrelated, officials noted that several incidents share similar circumstances involving large, unsanctioned gatherings.

In response, the department said it is dedicating additional resources to violent crime prevention through increased patrols, proactive enforcement efforts and focused monitoring of locations where large crowds are known to assemble.

The Tallahassee Police Department is encouraging residents to report large gatherings and suspicious activity that could lead to disturbances or violence.
