Gainesville Man Arrested For Soliciting Sexual Content from Minor on Discord Platform

Arthur Gabriel Young, 22, was arrested on February 25, 2025, on multiple charges related to the sexual exploitation of children.

The Gainesville Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division, with assistance from GPD SWAT, executed a search warrant at Young’s residence at 1245 SW 11th Ave, APT 211, after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The CyberTip indicated a Discord account was being used for sexualized conversations and soliciting sexualized content from a minor.

A detective from Colorado confirmed that the child victim involved was 12 years old and part of their ongoing investigation.

Gainesville Police Department Detective Montague’s investigation revealed that Arthur Young was the likely account holder and was communicating with multiple reported minors, distributing and receiving child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

With the assistance of the University of Florida Police Department, Young was contacted and immediately invoked his right to an attorney.

Young was arrested and charged with:

  • Two counts of Transmission of Harmful Material to Minors
  • Two counts of Soliciting a Child to Commit Illegal Sexual Acts
  • One count of Possession of Child Pornography
  • One count of Unlawful Use of a Two Way Communication Device

A complete analysis of Young’s seized devices is pending.

The Gainesville Police Department urges parents to be aware of the dangers of online solicitation and exploitation and to have age-appropriate conversations with their children about internet safety. They also encourage parents to be vigilant regarding their children’s use of social networking platforms.
